NEWS ABOUT THE SONS OF THE PIONEERS

October 18, 1944 was a very happy day for S/Sgt. and Mrs. Lloyd Perryman. Why? On this eventful date, the stork dropped a little stranger down in Hollywood. The Lloyd Perrymans are the proud parents of a son - Wayne Lloyd Perryman. From all reports, little Wayne looks like his famous daddy.
Lloyd has had his address changed again:

Every Tuesday night at 5:30 PM Pacific War Time, over the Mutual Network, is a swell new show, sponsored by Goodyear Rubber Company. The stars of the show are Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers. The program was started the 21st of November.

Seems there was a big 6th War Bond Drive and Parade and the Pioneers were in it. They had a big "prairie schooner" with the top down and had a public address system attached. The parade itself was strung out a bit, not enough bands, etc, but that gave the boys a better chance to furnish plenty of welcome music and the street rang with their warbling. They led off the "Pioneer" division and, since that was immediately followed by a very colorful Mexican group - they combined Western songs with Spanish ones and the effect was really swell. Out on Station WOWO, Fort Wayne, Ind., on the Hoosier Hop, Lloyd Cornell did a good job on "Remember Me", a song dedicated to the War Heroes of the past and present war, written by Bob Nolan.
